  • Saudi Pro League (Roshn Saudi League)

The Saudi Pro League (SPL), also known as the Roshn Saudi League, is the top professional men’s football league in Saudi Arabia. Founded in 1976, the league currently consists of 16 teams that compete over a season that usually runs from August to May. The SPL belongs to the Asian Football Confederation and is regarded as one of the best leagues in Asia, hosting its current 18-time champions AlHilal and many other great teams such as Al Nassr and Ittihad, who have won a combined 35 league titles between all three of them.

There are 16 clubs within the SPL, and during the course of a season, each club plays another club in a double round-robin fashion, once at their home stadium and once at their opponent’s stadium. Teams receive three points for a win, one point for a tie, and zero point for a loss. The teams are then ranked in the league table based on their points, then the head-to-head record between the tied teams is taken into consideration, and then the goal difference. Between the Saudi Professional League and the Saudi First Division League, there is a system of promotion and relegation. The top three teams from the Saudi First Division League are promoted to the SPL, while the bottom three teams from the SPL are relegated to the Saudi First Division League.
